Shay is responsible for supervising three full time Program Coordinators and overseeing a portfolio of three school partners. Shay is an educator and advocate for marginalized communities and is committed to equitable access for all families and youth they partner with. She has a Master of Education and Certificate of Advanced Study in school counseling from Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Prior to joining Read Ahead, Shay worked as an Education Manager at New Heights Youth inc., managing and creating academic programming and supporting the social-emotional wellness of student-athletes. She also served as an Academic Program Coordinator and Family Engagement Coordinator for Tenacity, developing curriculum, teaching literacy and providing education enrichment for middle school students after school.

Currently, Shay is also pursuing a Ph.D. in Social Welfare to research ways to support and uplift LGBTQ+ youth of color. Shay is extremely passionate about working with and supporting youth’s academic and mental well-being, and is very excited to bring her skills and passion to Read Ahead.
